Kearney, NE. – Friday was part one of a huge weekend in The West as number four Tri-City Storm (48 points) took on number five Fargo Force (46 points).  The Force defeated The Storm 3-1 and swapped places with each other in the standings. Puck drops tonight in Kearney for part two of The Western Conference battle.

Fargo wasted no time taking control of the game. Evan Bell scored his 3rd of the season on the first shot, just 21 seconds into regulation. Bell’s goal was just the start of the tilt in favor of The Force. Fargo would take a 1-0 lead and 9-4 shot advantage into the 2nd period.

William Fallstrom of The Force buried his 7th of the season 4:16 into the 2nd period. A Jace Foskey penalty for slashing (2:55) led to the eventual winner on the power play by Fallstrom. Tri-City Captain Adam Goodsir dropped the gloves at center ice with Xan Gurney (8:46), in what would be the only highlight of the period for The Storm. Bartek Bison added some insurance for The Force, scoring his 3rd of the season at the 11:43 mark. Coincidentally, Storm goalie Jake Barczewski was brought in to relieve Filip Larsson of his netminding duties. Fargo closed out the 2nd with a 3-0 lead and 22-7 shot advantage.

The Storm seemed to have finally come to life in the 3rd period. Connor McMenamin blasted a rocket from the point to score his 4th of the season and lone goal for The Storm (7:18). Bryan Yoon was credited with the assist on the McMenamin tally. Jake Barczewski (Storm) and Ryan Bischel (Force) stood on their heads in an exciting back-and-forth period. Tri-City pulled Barczewski for an extra attacker that led to nothing short of chaos in front of Bischel. The Storm would come out of the scramble goalless and down a place in The Western Standings.
