Kearney, NE – The Tri-City Storm (23-14-1-1) was shutout (1-0) Wednesday night by the USHL leading Omaha Lancers (27-10-2-1). The current league leaders (Omaha) have been red hot, winning 9 of their last 10 games. Their last loss came in a 3-2 shootout on January 28th against The Storm.

The Storm came out firing, outshooting The Lancers in all 3 periods. Unfortunately, Zach Driscoll of the Omaha Lancers brought his A game, stopping all 39 shot attempts by The Storm. Tri-City goalie Filip Larsson played out his mind as well, stopping 23 of 24 shots. Many of Larsson’s saves came on the breakaway or odd man rush, earning him the 2nd star of the night.

It wasn’t until the 3rd period that ex-Storm player, Michael Maloney (Omaha Lancers) was able to get one past Larsson. Maloney’s game winning goal (1:21) marked his 7th of the season. Assists were credited to Christian O’Neill and Mick Kohler.
